What's On My I-Tunes: Sci-fi MOODS

After downloading the soundtrack to the ultra cool 80's pastiche action movie DRIVE, I realized I have too much fucking music on my I-Tunes. With over nineteen thousand songs and eighty playlists, I can safely say that I have a problem. Fuck it! I love music and to show my appreciation for human kind's most valued form of art, I'm going to share with you all a playlist on my I-Tunes. I call it...

Yes, my playlist is inspired by PURE MOODS, a series of compilation Cds featuring new age, ambient, world electronic music. I'm talking about music made famous by ENYA, YANNI, DELERIUM, and mutha fuckin' ENIGMA! Back in the day, if you didn't have any Prozac or sleeping pills, place a pure-moods Cd in your Cd player or tape player(yes it's that old) and listen to it until you start imagining chocolate covered unicorns flying around you while you lay comfortably on top of a nimbus cloud, overlooking a gorgeous night time sky.

Anyway, VIRGIN RECORDS released four pure moods Cd compilations. The first pure-moods Cd was initially released in 1994 and re-released in 1997. I remember begging my mom when I was 12 to buy me the first one. The last compilation, Pure-moods 4, was released in 2002 and there hasn't been a new one ever since. After going through my music, I have a lot of ambient-new age-electronic music from and/or inspired by science fiction media.

Here's the playlist for SCI-fi Moods:

-Vangelis

Fright Night (2011) -- My After Thoughts --

I totally forgot I watched this movie last week. If you have never seen the original FRIGHT NIGHT (1985), I would suggest to pick up a copy or stream it over netflix if you are looking for a very retro horror movie experience. The remake itself was, to put it in lament terms... Alright. The remake was a nice theater experience, but it could have been way better if the filmmakers did a little bit of tweaking with the script. Things like, taking care of some continuity errors and beefing up some of the characters. If these problems could have been fixed before film production, FRIGHT NIGHT(2011) could have been one of the best vampire horror movies of this generation. But, it falls a little short. Just barely though. Should these type of flaws deter you, the average movie goer, from seeing this movie... No.

What I loved about the remake is its ample amount of blood, gore, action, and grade A-acting. Anton Yelchin was cool as the leading protagonist, exuding a sort of Marty Mcfly charisma. He was the cool teen who still has a little bit of dorky-ness inside him. Colin Farrell played Colin Farell, playing a cool vampire. The dude had alot of fun with the role.  Imogen Poots was good as the sincere/hottie/girlfriend who can pack a punch and Toni Collette gave a nice added depth to what I thought was a paperless role for her. David Tennat was foul mouthed, hilarious, and cool as Peter Vincent. The dude was no Roddy McDowall.

My major peeve with the film was the entire third act. I thought the climax was rushed, the filmmakers could have beefed up the last 20 pages with more action and a more climactic resolution. If you watched the original, there is about 20 pages of climactic action and suspense that leads to a bittersweet resolution. In the remake, it felt like 10 pages of climactic action with an OK resolution. Nevertheless, I still had fun with the movie.

So, should you go watch this movie? Yes. No sparkling vampires included.

Are there any cameos from the actors of the original? Yes.

Should I watch this movie over Conan? I haven't seen CONAN THE BARBARIAN. But, sure, why not! I heard its not doing good anyway...

Audience Reaction: People generally loved it and laughed at every moment that was suppose to be funny.

Weekend Vacation With A MOST AWESOME Tv Blast From The Past!

WEEKEND VACATION

Its been awhile since I have posted something here on this site. Four days really, but that might as well be an eternity here on the web. Anyway, I've been busy with family & friends in my hometown of San Antonio TX. And, I was honored to have celebrated my nephew's 8th birthday At BIG LOU'S PIZZA. Yes, the "Big Lou's Pizza" that was shown on the travel channel show, 'MAN VS. FOOD'. My older brother OSCAR ordered one giant pizza for over twenty family members, me included.

I could not finish my long pizza, I had already downed 4 large cups of BIG RED and I was out of the pizza race for good.
I visited the SAN ANTONIO ZOO and all I got was a scary Mexican monster troll...

I told my little brother he was "insane!" for even suggesting to eat an entire Big Lou's Pizza by ourselves. Then I told him he was "Even more insane!" for wearing that 'Tap Out' t-shirt...

MOST AWESOME TV BLAST FROM THE PAST!
So, I had a lot of fun in San Antonio and now its back to school... Finally! The extremely hot weather this summer has taken its toll on me and now I'm waiting for SNOWMAGEDDON PART DOS! I have so much to do this semester:Revise a full length horror screenplay, participate in a directing narrative class, Spanish 2050, and an art history class on the web. I also have an entire season to write for NTTV television's 'Wicked Cinema with Hugo G. Rave'. If you ever heard of a show from the 90's called 'MONSTER VISION', Wicked Cinema is an homage to the show. So, this leads me to my MOST AWESOME TV BLAST FROM THE PAST!

MONSTER VISION! With Joe Bob Briggs!

And this is one of the reasons why I loved this show...

GODZILLA!

In Memory Of My Verizon LG Phone

Its been a long time coming... Well, actually not really, but for the last two months, I have been without my cellphone. MAJOR POOP if you tell me. Stupid financial issue. So, finally I had the money on Tuesday to pay off whatever fees I owed to VERIZON. I was hoping I could pay a small fee then the rest of the major fee later on... At least that was the plan, until I heard how much it was going to cost me to turn on my phone.

$505.37! For the two months I was without a FUCKING service! Fuck you, Verizon! I walked my fat Mexican ass to TARGET and bought myself a flashy new 'pay as you go' phone!

$135.78! How much did I save? Might as well be a gazillion dollars for all I care!(Seriously, I'm bad at math) Alright, so, I was let down by the bill amount from VERIZON, only because I really wanted to keep my San Antonio number which is -- Say it, King Leonidas...

Um... Thanks, dude... Anyway! The main point of my post is to lay my VERIZON LG PHONE to rest and take a ceremonial look back at my...
